Area of work during Ph.D. study : Natural Product Chemistry (mainly orchids) and Spectroscopic Methods for Structure Elucidation

Area of work at CICR : Cottonseed oil, Gossypol, Secondary metabolites

Research work carried out/being carried out at CICR :

  • Biochemical parameters associated with heterosis in cotton hybrids
  • Identification of cotton genotypes with improved levels of unsaturated fatty acids (USDA-India cottonseed oil project) as Co-PI
  • Effect of insecticides on secondary metabolites in cotton (an ad-hoc trial) which later formed a part of AP Cess Fund Project Studies on the effects of insecticides on cotton plants and their interaction with Helicoverpa armigera and parasitoid Campoletis chlorideae as Co-PI
  • Assessment of Gossypol Content in Working Collections of Cotton Germplasm NATP RCPS till 2003 and since then as Institute project
  • Physiological and biochemical studies on abiotic stresses with particular reference to heat and drought in cotton as Co-PI
  • Effect of different nitrogen levels on oil and protein content in Bt cotton hybrids and effect of Bt gene on cotton seed oil content
